Acupuncture
What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine that has existed for thousands of years. It consist of inserting fine needles into the skin at specific points in the body to improve “energy flow” of the body.
How does it work?
Acupuncture works by keeping channels/meridians open or flowing through the body. Imagine a dam in a stream blocking the flow of water. Acupuncture works to unblock these channels allowing the body to reestablish a flow through these streams.
How many treatments are needed?
Chronic issues may need a few treatments over a few months to be sufficient. For short term or acute issues, only few treatments may be all that is needed. It can vary on a case by case bases.
Will does acupuncture feel like? Will it Hurt?
Everyone will feel things differently. For the most part, the majority of people will feel only a mild discomfort for a quick moment when the needles are inserted, many people feel nothing at all.
Will my insurance cover it?
Many insurance companies now cover acupuncture treatments. If not, there may be a small tray fee in addition to the cost of treatment. This is to pay for the cost of the needles and supplies used for acupuncture. WCB and MPI will also cover acupuncture treatments.
